Memorial: She was buried in Lilydale, near Coldstream. She was given a state funeral from Scots' Church, Melbourne, which her father had built and where as a teenager she had sung in the choir.
Summary: The Peach Melba is a classic dessert, invented in 1892 or 1893 by the French chef Auguste Escoffier at the Savoy Hotel, London to honour the Australian soprano, Dame Nellie Melba. Melba was the first Australian to appear on the cover of Time magazine, in April 1927.
